School Improvement Plan

St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School

What is the school doing to improve outcomes for our children?

A Parents’ Guide to our School Improvement Plan 2024/2025

Our school’s performance is assessed under 5 headings:

  • RE, Prayer and Liturgy and the Catholic Life and Mission of the School
  • Quality of Education
  • Behaviour and Attitudes
  • Personal Development
  • Leadership and Management

We constantly evaluate how well we are doing in these areas and collect evidence from all stakeholders. We gather information through our monitoring and evaluation, questionnaires and review our SDP at several points throughout the year. The governors are responsible for agreeing to the priorities and ensuring that each plan is implemented.

What are our priorities?

RE and the Catholic Life of the School

We are working to:

To respond fully to the recommendations from our most recent CSI inspection, working towards an outstanding judgement in at least 'Catholic Life' and 'Prayer and Liturgy.'

We also aim to increase our focus on 'Building the Kingdom' and Catholic Social Teachings; threading them through our whole curriculum and planning a focus on each across the year.

Lastly, in RE, our focus is to plan for creative ways for children to be able to express their depth of knowledge in a variety of ways.

Quality of Education

To focus on the school-wide development of oracy, language and effective communication.

Continue to comprehensively review our White Rose Maths curriculum to improve outcomes for all children.

Behaviour and Attitudes

Continue to embed our Behaviour Curriculum, monitoring the impact of strategies and closely analysing behaviour to support all aspects of school life.

Improve pupils’ attendance, in particular those pupils who are disadvantaged, SEND and are persistently absent from school.

Personal Development

Develop the curriculum to ensure pupils have a wide variety of enrichment opportunities that prepare pupils for the next stage of their education and build on previous learning. Focus on British Values, diversity and inclusion and careers

Leadership and Management

Ensure the proportion of pupils who achieve age-related and higher standards in reading, writing and maths continues to improve

Ensure governor engagement, challenge and scrutiny is maximised
